Crib Mattress

Our crib mattresses are designed to provide a peaceful and comfortable sleeping surface for your baby. Additionally, they are beautifully handcrafted and can be used as a floor pillow once your child outgrows the crib. As a floor pillow, our mattresses would be perfect for reading, playing, or daydreaming. We fill our mattresses with 100% Oeko-Tex certified wool and are not treated with any chemicals or synthetic materials. They are handcrafted with love and are available encased with all-natural fabric including wool, linen and cotton. Our mattresses come in a 100% cotton storage bag.

Wool is sustainable, renewable and biodegradable. Its naturally breathable, body temperature regulating, and is soft yet durable. Wool is naturally resistant to stains, water, dust mites and fire making all of our wool mattresses the healthiest choice for peaceful sleeping. With proper care, our wool mattress will last for generations. All of our wool comes from sheep raised on small family farms and where sheep graze freely in the mountains of Bulgaria. Our practice is sustainable and our products, after lasting generations and they are well-worn and well-loved, are biodegradable.

Notes on Size and Shape

In order to provide a tight fit in a standard crib, our mattresses are intentionally slightly larger. Due to their soft nature they can fit in a slightly smaller frame or stretch out into a slightly larger one. Your mattress may temporarily settle and be misshapen during the shipping process but will reshape when laid flat for a few days. We put time and love behind our products.

Wool Mattress Care Instructions

Congratulations on owning and soon-to-be loving a handcrafted Wool Roots mattress for your baby! With proper care a wool mattress will last a lifetime. Please read and follow instruction before use and follow the care instructions to continue the magical benefits of wool.

We overfill our mattresses and compress by hand yet typically the mattress will still settle between 10-15% in the first year with use. To avoid uneven wear or indentations, place your baby in different positions on the mattress for each sleep. Flip and rotate the mattress once a week for the first three months and seasonally for the remainder of the life of the mattress. Learn more tips to continue caring for your mattress.
